  • INSPIRATION

    All my paintings are concerned with the joyful and the sensual. This painting is from a series called “of the earth” inspired by the great French ceramicist Jean-Nicolas Gerard. The writer Sebastian Blackie describes the man and work; “his forms are robust and energetic and have the simple but profound beauty and spontaneity that shines out from those who are alive and happy”.

    His pots, plates, cups and bowls are made and decorated with a bold and eccentric playfulness that gives joy. All his work is “of the earth”. The light and colour of the Provençal landscape, that equally inspired Van Gogh, is embedded in every piece.

    Used daily as inspirational vessels for food and drink his work has that every-day spiritual quality that reminds us what to value, enjoy and how to live.

    The paintings in my series “of the earth” are likewise intended to give that same daily pleasure and reminder…

  • ABOUT THE ARTIST

     

    I’m based in a quiet corner of rural, west Wiltshire; a location that infuses all my thoughts and actions. I’m passionate about the potential of painting to reconnect us to the sensual abundance and ecstasy of nature and life.

    I want a synthesis of the beautiful and blissful in dance, poetry, music and landscape expressed in paint. 

    The eternal quest for beauty still stands as one of the most exciting, rebellious and last bastions of hope that offers balance to technology and the corporate world.

    Colour is euphoric and the doorway into finding joy in our world. That in turn helps us to appreciate this moment here, now.
